After careful sorting, the rest of their journey begins. Throughout the entire process, there is an effort to get the product to the store or your plate as quickly and as fresh as possible.
The inspection actually starts with the growers themselves. Based on detailed written specifications for each product, they prepare the products for market. Upon arrival at a BelOrta site, the inspection is the first stop. An inspector randomly selects a few crates from the truck and checks whether the sorting done by the grower is top quality. Weight, quality, packaging, and traceability—every detail counts. Additionally, it is also checked whether the grower complies with all cultivation regulations.
Is everything approved? Then the product receives tracking labels so that fresh vegetables and fruit can be perfectly monitored throughout their journey.
We actively contribute to reducing food waste. Growers can turn to BelOrta with all their qualities and grades. Customers are also sought for products that, for example, are not aesthetically perfect. If any products remain unsold, they are offered to food banks.

After all, we want our products to be in top condition and remain so until they are sold. That’s why each cold storage room has its own temperature and humidity, fully tailored to each product
Our cold storage rooms are not just storage spaces; they also help prolong freshness. We create the perfect conditions so that everything stays in top condition until it’s ready for the big journey to the store.
As soon as a buyer has purchased a product, our logistics staff start working. They retrieve the correct products from the cold storage and prepare them at the buyer's loading dock. From there, they travel further. Often, they arrive fresh in the store or on your plate the same day.

Thanks to smart systems, we can precisely track which products are available and quickly respond to the demand of the retailer. This way, no product stays longer in the cold storage than necessary, and everything arrives at the right moment.
The logistics activities mainly run on electricity, both for the cold storage rooms and for the batteries of forklifts and electric pallet trucks. To make all of this as eco-friendly as possible, a lot of solar energy is generated on-site. Many roofs of the various sites are covered with photovoltaic solar panels. We also strive to keep our ecological footprint as low as possible here.
